Apple doesn't own 'start-up'

Hi. My name is Jason Berek-Lewis. I run Healthy Startups a blog and PR/ marketing/ social media consultancy in healthcare. I am passionate about the amazing work being done by startups to improve access to healthcare. Maybe you are passionate about something else in the startup space. What I am also passionate about is campaigning against the business practices of Apple. In Australia Apple has applied to trademark the term 'startup'. 'Startup' doesn't belong to anyone except for the millions of entrepreneurs, coders, builders, innovators, hackers, hustlers around the globe who are building something to change the world. Apple is no champion of innovation. Apple is no champion of community. Apple is no champion of entrepreneurship. Apple is no champion of startups. Apple is no champion of competition. Startup isn't a trademark. Startup is a way of life: it's about dreaming of a bigger and better tomorrow and no one can claim ownership over that. If you oppose what Apple is trying to achieve in Australia - and elsewhere - by seeking to own our word, please get in touch. Email me on jason AT healthystartups DOT com Let's build a movement. Not one that opposes Apple, but one that stands for innovators, entrepreneurs and startups everywhere. Please RT. Please comment. Please share. Please make this go viral. Contact me if you want to add your thoughts to this site. WE ARE STARTUPS!
